DO YOU NEED HELP WITH YOUR ENDOWMENT?
Is your church endowment a lightning rod for controversy? Do your committee members feel overwhelmed when talking total return on investments or spending policies? Does your pastor think a degree in financial management should have been in the pastoral job description?
Well, now there’s hope and help. The Presbyterian Endowment Education & Resource Network, a volunteer network of ministers and laypersons, exists to serve congregations and their leaders in the creation, development, and creative use of invested funds for the cause of Christ’s ministry. We work to provide education, practical advice, and encouragement in the building and managing of endowments in the local church. Our shared knowledge is for congregations of any size with endowments of any size, at no cost to the congregation.
Go to the PEER website at www.peernetwork.org and browse through our library. Find an article that addresses the problem you’re facing now. Follow some links that might be of interest. Download a template so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Or post your question in our Discussion Room and wait for answers to come back.
We feel that a well-managed endowment can help a church reach beyond its walls to establish activities that are unreachable within the annual operating budget. And we believe that, even though you may have to dodge lightning bolts now and then, you’ll find that an endowment can be a blessing beyond expectation.
